Talky — Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Talky ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information when you use the iOS app developed by Andrea Piani / Immaginet Srl.
Talky is designed to be privacy-first: all walkie-talkie communications happen directly between devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (Multipeer Connectivity). We do not run a server that stores your voice or your conversations.
1. Data We Process
1.1 Data we never collect or transmit
- The audio of your voice transmissions
- The content of any private channels (name, password)
- Your contacts, photos, or location
- Recordings made with the Pro "Recordings" feature
These are processed locally on your device only.
1.2 Data processed locally on your device
- Display name — the name visible to nearby devices during peer discovery. You set this; it does not leave the local Multipeer Connectivity session.
- App settings — theme, audio preferences, equalizer presets, etc. Stored in iOS UserDefaults on your device.
- Recordings (Pro feature) — stored exclusively in the app's sandbox. Never uploaded.
- Transmission history (Pro feature) — peer display names and timestamps, stored locally only.
1.3 Data processed by third-party services
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google LLC) — collects anonymous usage events (e.g. screen views, button taps, IAP events) and crash reports to help us improve the app. No personally identifying information is sent. You can opt out by disabling "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) — shown to non-Pro users only. Ad-related identifiers may be collected per Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. Consent is requested via the Google UMP SDK at first launch in regions where required (EU/UK/Switzerland).
- Apple StoreKit / App Store — handles all in-app purchases (Talky Pro subscription and individual theme purchases). Apple manages payment data; we never see your card details. We only receive the entitlement (whether you own a product).
2. Permissions
Talky asks for the following iOS permissions:
- Microphone — required to transmit your voice in walkie-talkie mode.
- Local Network — required so iOS can discover nearby devices over the local network.
- Notifications — optional, used to alert you to incoming connections.
- Bluetooth (implicit via Multipeer Connectivity) — required for short-range peer discovery.
- App Tracking (ATT) — only if you accept; used by AdMob to deliver personalized ads to non-Pro users.
You can revoke any of these permissions in iOS Settings → Talky.
3. In-App Purchases
Talky offers:
- Talky Pro subscription (weekly and yearly) — auto-renewing.
- Individual theme purchases (€0.99 Identity Pack, €1.99 Animated Pack) — non-consumable, one-time.
All transactions are processed by Apple. Your purchase status is restored on any device signed in with the same Apple ID via the "Restore Purchases" button.
4. Children
Talky is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will assist.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Because we do not store your data on a server, there is nothing for you to "delete from us". To erase local data:
- Delete the app from your device — this removes all settings, recordings, and history.
- Or use Talky's "Reset Settings" option to restore defaults without uninstalling.
To request deletion of any analytics data that may be associated with your device identifier, contact us at the email below; we will forward the request to our analytics providers.
6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Residents of the EU, UK, and California have rights to access, correct, delete, port, and object to processing of personal data, as well as to withdraw consent at any time. Since Talky processes virtually all data locally on your device, exercising these rights typically means changing iOS Settings or deleting the app. For analytics and ad data held by Google, you can also exercise rights directly at:
7. International Transfers
Data processed by Firebase and AdMob may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Google maintains GDPR-compliant data transfer mechanisms (Standard Contractual Clauses).
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted in the app where possible.
